Our Mission
This program began with a gift of 1,200 pounds of fresh green orchard-run hazelnuts. The congregation of the Sweet Home United Methodist Church
then dried, cracked, sorted, packaged and sold the hazelnuts. Proceeds from this effort helped pay for re-shingling our church steeple.
The program continued to help pay for modernizing our kitchen and cold storage facilities. This remodeling was necessary to keep our "Manna" meal
program functioning.
In this tumultuous adventure we have experienced a wonderful "value added" development. Three groups that meet at our building - Alcoholics, Anonymous, Narcotics
Anonymous, as well as Manna participants have all pitched in to help us separate nutmeats and then package and ship orders.
Finally, our tongue-in-cheek "Nuts for Jesus" title for our work signals two qualities in the hearts and hands of the people of Sweet Home United Methodist
Church - irrepressible, mischievous joy, and willing service to people in need.
